The Verdon Gorge

Nestled in the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Gîte Astronomique is to be found just outside Brunet, approximately 100km West of Nice and within 90 minutes of Marseille Airport.

Brunet is an agricultural area devoted to growing cereal crops, mostly golden wheat plus the famous lavender fields. Gîte Astronomique is nestled in the middle of the local farmer’s wheat fields and generally enjoys quiet and seclusion. However, when the farmer has to work his fields, some small disturbance is unavoidable. He does appreciate being given a wave !

The area is part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Verdon, which itself includes the spectacular Verdon Gorge, the magnificent Alps, the Haute-Provence geological reserve. the Valensole plateau covered in lavender fields and the many wonderful Verdon lakes.
